Belonging to a Taos (Northern Tiwa) speaking Native American tribe, the Taos Pueblo tribe, is approximately 1000 years old and resides about 1 mile north of the modern city of Taos, New Mexico. The Taos community is known for being one of the most secretive, private and conservative Pueblos.
Presently, the Pueblo was designated a National Historic Landmark, and later on became a World Heritage site. They are considered to be the oldest and continuously inhabited communities in the US.
